Roge and Phil go to Adelaide in the Benz August 2022

This is a  brief story with mainly pictures, given the preponderance of illiteratii in our family

This is Helen and Carl Pagnin's dog, Bindi. She is a rummin, and I very much enjoyed her company. She would hide if asked for 'a walk' - an unusual characteristic in a dog. Yet, if girdled up with her gear to walk, she would then greatly enjoy it.
Roger and i did nearly 2,500 km in a week, and the diesel Benz averaged 5.2 litres per 100km. That is, we filled the tank twice only to get all the way from Hobart to Adelaide and back.
Jobs have accumulated: and the new front porch must be sanded back (builders put on a white undercoat, contrary to my intentions) and oil applied.

Sarah and Camille are providing a spagnorious 4 birth toaster for Bruny for Father's day this year. I'm going with the Breville 'light touch' one.
Roger the Reliable, undertook the electricity reading at Highfield on our return.
Pondering the chess puzzle last night on board the Spirit of Tasmania.
Roge collecting 2 boxes of music from old friend in Melbourne, Liz Sullivan.
Our host Sue at the Portside Motel at Port Campbell - very reasonable price for top quality accommodation, right on the water, and near pub and restaurants.
Our room - wide angle
Love the style of the South Australian pubs. This, in the Coonawarra.
The church reminded me of one in El Tobosa in Spain, scene of the Graham Greene entertainment "Monsignor Quixote"
We tasted some wine at Wynns early on Sunday morning. They had a great display. Probably paid more than at the bottle shop...
The Wynns buildings, featured in their wine label
Beautiful roadway avenue in South Australia. Bright sunny and warm day, white and ghost gums overhanging the road
Paddock from our accommodation at Willilooka near Coonawarra. Rustic and comfortable, great food, wine and friendly staff and patrons

City of (shut) churches. This cathedral overlooks "The Oval" in Adelaide, but we couldn't get in - doors barred up
Happy crowd on the hill as Australia defeated South Africa in the rugby test last Saturday
Roger coming back from the bar, or other conveniences.
We thought that the current enthusiasm for destroying, removing and/or reinventing statues (HCC eg) might catch on around Australia, so we made up some reasons why.
This footballer statue must come down. What has Australian Rules ever done for Australia? Men in tight shorts, playing games well into middle age. Unsavoury.
Parklands around the Adelaide Oval (made rectangular for the rugby test)

This (bust) statue must come down. His nose is far too prominent. It makes those with insignificant noses (ie not Kimbers) feel inadequate. OUT, OUT, OUT
Out with this semi-nude Greek antiquity. It only encourages bawdy activity
Already cut down to just this man's head and shoulders, the rest must go. Too stern and authoritarian
Not forceful enough: out, out
Already ridiculed by placing this funny little hat on her head, this lady must go
No reason given: out, out out.
Demonic, religious etc. Not in the "new Australia" out says the HCC
"Please sir, can we leave this one?" No. Out it goes
Queen. If not for her, Prince Charles wouldn't be next in line. Out, out out.
Too lazy, squatting on his throne. Just because he started a University, no reason he should have his statue around. Out.
Roge peers at this robed wonder. out.
Some nice buildings in Adelaide.
And some ridiculous murals painted on some ugly buildings. Nothing gained.
Made us laugh though
Not sufficient to have pigs actually taking food out of the Rundle St Mall garbage, they had an artist make on in bronze.
Curious.

Phil was busy making notes for this journal, and Roge had a night off, and visited, yet, the pilates emporium.
This very council is ordering the removal of all statues, Australia wide. Actually, New Holland wide. The name Australia is banned
Josh Jones, seen in Adelaide with his new car "DNA1"
My attempt at parking the car on night at Keith, South Australia. Difficult in the dark

Old Holden dealerships were seen throughout the country. Closed down in favour of newer Chinese cars and truck
A courthouse at which Josh can practise after the Commission of Enquiry into DNA finalises its report
Not so far from Finland

Out out out
Helen and Carl's two boys, lovely gentlemen  Lachie and Leonardo. Good chess players too
Best Italian: inner city Melbourne
Helen and father
These statues, however, will be permitted by the relevant Victorian council, as 'inoffensive to anyone because totally irrelevant'

Art in the Pagnin house. Melbourne in the grey and rain. Could have been viewed outside in the street at the same time as the painting was viewed inside on the wall
Ripper of a car
Looks grumpy, but she (Bindy) was a lovely dog
Morrison under scrutiny
Bruce putting a sheep into the sheep dip

Ice and snow as we left Hobart - over the central highlands
Spring will soon be sprung.
